The course focuses on digital documentation of historical sites and the use of computer visualization in the research and analysis of built environments. Topics will be explored through class lectures on the theory and history of the time period of our site, digital documentation of a case-study site through laser scanning and photogrammetry, extraction of 2D drawings and application of visualization technologies though lab work. The data acquisition of the case study will take place in Italy. The students will be active participants both in collecting the information on-site and in the post-processing the cloud of points and extracting architectural drawings.
